Play time…

I am getting ready to go to a sister’s weekend. I thought it would be fun to have personalized cup sleeves. It was a lot of fun to make these and I apologize for the really bad photos. It is raining here all week and there just isn’t much natural light.

IMG_2373There is nothing like a photo to remind me to go and clip all the threads.

IMG_2372They didn’t turn out too bad. I also have them available in the shop if you need one for a friend or yourself. These were created from up cycled denim. Here are some others out of cotton fabrics.

I am heading for the scissors to go and clip some threads, talk to you later!

Monday

Mondays seem so blah, maybe it is the combination of fun weekend rush + beginning of the week chores +left over work from the week before. Today, I am looking forward to getting to work on this little jewel. I am following a pattern that is in my queue on Ravelry. This is the pattern http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/retro-circles-blanket and it is really pretty easy to follow if I pay attention.  I am fairly far along on it and it is just flying.

The colors are cheerful and restful at the same time. I can’t wait to get it finished. I have been waiting on some yarn to come in for a custom project. I would really like to have this little baby blanket complete before I start on the other. The forest green yarn for the other custom project should be in any day now. So I am rushing to finish this one up!

Talk to you later,

Diagonal Cotton stripe…COMPLETE!

Whew, I am so glad that I get to post this Ta dah! I loved the feel of the 100% cotton yarn.It was a fun custom order for my Etsy shop: ChocolateDogStudio and it has gorgeous colors in it. I can’t wait to ship it off this afternoon to it’s new home in Texas. Here are all the lovely photos. I am sure you remember it in its beginning stages.

I have not crocheted a 100% cotton blanket before. It was a bit of a challenge as cotton has that ability to grow or shrink depending on the humidity. Here it is:

It has the beautiful blue as a simple border to finish off the edges.

Completed and on it’s way home!

talk to you later!

Spring Break Part 2

It was wonderful having our oldest daughter and her roommate home from college on Spring break. I think they had a wonderful time of rest, food, more rest, and food and then some studying thrown in for good measure. So this week makes Spring Break part 2. The boys and Angie have Spring break this week. We took vacation this weekend and only did what needed to be done. The guys did some home improvement projects and I did some sewing and cleaning. Cleaning the studio was fun as it sparked some creative ideas. I found some fabrics I didn’t know I had.  Sorting the fabric encouraged me to create with what I have. I did come up with some new things for the shop. Combine that with not sleeping well, (too much caffeine) and a restless night and I cut out a bunch of new bibs, and coffee press cozies. I have one of each ready for handwork and I hope to get them photographed and listed soon.

(The back of the bib is a bit different though.)

Several new coffee press cozies.

The daffodils are blooming in the front yard. The dogs have been enjoying the warmish weather we have had. There is a slight threat of snow on the weekend. (In March…? really) It seems a little bit late. The garden is growing. We have planted cauliflower, Brussel sprouts, sugar snap peas, sweet potatoes (that had sprouted), onions and garlic.

I have been sewing since early this morning and I took a well needed break but I need to get back to it as the rest of the week seems busy.

Talk to you later,

Karen
